Hi. I am 42. Separated with shared care of 3 boys. I was ordained as a Baptist pastor in Australia in 2004. By 2010 I had fully walked away from church. I am studying a Masters in Theology. I work. I am tired. I’d like to go to church but I live in Newcastle, NSW and it is generally very conservative. There must be people like me but it is difficult to find them. I saw your note on TCPC page on Facebook so I thought I’d say hi. I’d like to chat with you via email for some encouragement. Thanks

Les, I took a quick look at your blog and am encouraged by your honest Christianity/spirituality. Also glad to hear you are working on a Masters of Theology. I will be glad to do some chatting with you via email. I am currently working on a book and have just starting building Liberal Lectionary Resources so I may not be able to respond in as length of a fashion as I would desire. There are also some very wonderful people at the church I serve as pastor who may be interested in corresponding with you too. Let me know and I can send an email out to the congregation and share your email address. Either way, I will keep you in my prayers. As a liberal Christian, I don’t understand a whole lot, including prayer, but I engage in the “practices of the Church” nevertheless, even if with a critical mind. So glad you found The Center for Progressive Christianity.

You are way cool. Who knew baptists could be cool. Loved the golf bashing photos and text. Just wanted you to know I look forward to reading the liberal lectionary postings from week to week. But, hey, do know we know when they’re not posted in a timely fashion. What’s with that? Life get in the way? Too busy hunting for white/blue lights? :)

Really, thanks. Love reading your postings. Off to think about whether or not I suffer from the Messiah complex or is it just the other 99.9% of the world that does. :)

Thank you for your kind words.

On posting Liberal Lectionary stuff, everything depends on me being inspired (can’t count on me being inspired, um), whether other LLR writers are inspired, how long my honey do list is, and if the Spirit/spirit is moving me.

      Blessings on your ministry!

If you have any extra time, pray for my golf game.

Thanks for your honesty. You may want to check out Pastor Dr. Gregory Boyd. He holds strongly to Jesus and God’s word. For that reason he disagrees with much of conservative Christianity. You may find his sermons refreshing and he is a prolific author. http://www.whchurch.org

    Greetings,

I noticed the graphic of the “burning bush” on your site and would like to inquire if it is copyrighted by you and whether we could use a small version of it in the header of our newsletter.

    Thanks,
    pb

I’m a Senior at UNCC. I am minoring in Gerontology. I got your church’s information from my professor b/c of your very open outlook on sexual orientation. If possible could I contact you to speak with you about the senior citizens who you pastor who are in the LGBT community? Nothing invasive just basic questions for a research paper. I wasn’t successfull finding a website for your awesome church. Please email me if I could speak with you re. the issue of homosexual seniors and the challenges they face.

  6. I like Liberal Lectionary Resources. I have, in fact, been building up my own set of RCL Sunday comments. I have converted my Bible study into a blogging project; this keeps me on track.
